About the Artists
Cindy is a singer and writer who worked professionally in Calgary, Canada for many years doing voice over, television, live performance and video work including a cameo in Paul Brandt’s 2006 video Home. She is known for her musical contributions to the Canadian TV and film industry including the series Caitlin’s Way and the Canadian feature-length film The Girl Who Married a Ghost. Soon she may no longer have a voice as the life saving medication she has been on since her 30s for severe rheumatoid arthritis is striping away her voice. Even in the face of this devastation, Cindy maintains a courageous and positive outlook to life, actively raising funds for the Canadian Arthritis Society.
Sora is a wondrous story-teller with a uniquely ancient-to-modern sound. She weaves together contemporary styling with the mystical moods of Celtic folk, New Age, medieval madrigals and other modes of early music. Sora came to claim her singing voice after the birth of her first child, and continues to develop a soulful and meaningful career while raising 4 school aged children. It is this passion and drive that has resonated with Sora’s audience. Sora is currently working on the release of her third CD.
About the Song
Wings in Flight is a beacon of light that leads our hearts through the holiday season. Sora and Cindy wrote Wings in Flight years ago, thinking they had forever to record it. Forever came sooner than either of them expected when Cindy realized that her voice was giving way to the harsh medication she is on. With Sora and Cindy living in two different parts of the country, it seemed Wings in Flight might fade into oblivion. In response, Sora planned a surprise like no other, one last recording session for her friend and colleague. With bed tracks laid days before in a conspiracy with Cindy’s fiancé, the stage was set to give a gift unlike any other. A surprise trip to Calgary lead to the moment of a lifetime when Cindy heard and added her vocals to Wings in Flight, written so long ago for the first time in the studio.
